The Acapulco Gold strain is probably one of the most well-known strains there are. It is a grade A+ sativa-dominant hybrid and it gained its fame by being one of the best cannabis strains developed by man. As it name suggests, this strain originated and is commonly found within and near Acapulco, Mexico. This strain has been originally developed to be grown outdoors but lately, more and more people have been planting indoors very successfully.
The Autoflowering seeds are much easier to grow, as compared to the regular ones. It can be planted indoors or outdoors without having to pay much attention to light frequency and intensity. Plants are completely done within 9 – 11 weeks.
The “Acapulco” part of the strain’s name is about where it came from in Mexico. The “gold” part is about how the buds look. They are gorgeous, firm colas that are flecked with gold and reddish brown, with very visible THC crystals. The plant, in general, has a pale green color with a slight hint of yellow. The buds look like a gold nugget because of the combination of light and dark orange hairs that cover it. There are also patches of crystals and brown resin on the buds.
The buds have a general sweet smell, with buttery and saffron spice tones. However, when the bud is broken open, something like the smell of burnt toffee diffuses from the bud.
When smoked, the strain has a pleasant combination of spicy eggnog. Cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg are the most dominant tastes while nutmeg stays the longest.
The intense fruit cocktail of flavors pack a strong sensation that really lingers, offering a long lasting high that balances upbeat effects with body-relaxing, stress reducing calmness.
The high takes effect almost instantly and lasts quite long. It gives a balanced head and body high that makes smokers relaxed and heavy-eyed. Due to its strong effects, this is not recommended for beginners.
According to lab research done on the strain, it contains around 23% THC.
Due to its relaxing effects, it has been used to treat insomnia, depression, and other stress-related disorders. It works well for spasm-induced pains as it relaxes the muscles.
